On 26 January 2022, the team of TUD successfully held their planned local Community of Interest Event with about 25 interested participants.
The target audience was primarily clinical researchers and care providers from the region of Dresden (Saxony, Germany) who are interested in Virtual Coaching, personalised assistance for patients by technical means, and eHealth in general.
Hannes Schlieter as head of TUD’s research group Digital Health and technical manager of the vCare project presented the vCare concept in general. Kai Gand, research associate at the TUD team, gave insights on the clinical pathways as a central tool to govern the care as supported by the Virtual Coach. The Professional Portal and Avatar App have been showcased by Emanuel Sandner, research engineer from AIT, as being in charge of the caregiver and patient user interfaces. Lucia Pannese, CEO of Imaginary, outlined concept and approach of the Rehability Serious Games.
We hope for fruitful future discussion with current and hopefully newly attracted partners on how Virtual Coaching can improve care.

During the lead conference of of medical informatics community in Europe – MIE2021 we presented an article on the representation of clinical process knowledge to govern virtual coaches for elderly rehabilitation. Or approach was well-acknowledged during the conference session as a useful tool for providing care support.

We are proud that vCare was named as positive technological example of in the slot “Rehabilition technology in clinical practice”, presented by Carmen Laplaza Santos (Deputy Head of Unit – Health Innovations, DG Research and Innovation, European Commission) in the course of the Symposium I²-CoRT („innovation and implementation accelerator for complex rehabilitation technology“).
The primary concepts, the overall project scope as well as requirements and implementation plan of the vCare project are now presented in Frontiers in Digital Health in order to scientifically dissemenitate our core ideas – enjoy reading.
